the Worldwide Marist Community

Morning Prayer

Prayer by Charlie ’16

Every morning, directly before we begin prayer, we hear the name of another school.  Many of us think about this school for a split-second and then think about other things, if we think about this school at all.  But why do we take the time each morning to mention these other schools?  Why are these schools significant to us?

Mentioning these schools is significant to us because it reminds us that we are part of a community that is larger than ourselves.  Even though we have not met the students at these other schools, we are united by common values that make us Marists.  We are reminded that we are not alone in the world, but we are part of a worldwide community of people that share many similar beliefs.

Let us pray.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for the opportunity to be part of the Marist community.  Oftentimes it feels like this community only includes this school, but in truth, it includes much more.  Help us to recognize that we are part of this larger community and that we are not alone in the world.  Guide us to both support and feel supported by the worldwide Marist community.

Amen.

Mary, Seat of Wisdom.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
